The Little White House was the home of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. It was his home before he became President and continued to be his getaway until his death on April 12, 1945. It is an excellent spot to stop by during your southern travels.

Fernbank Natural History Museum – Atlanta, Georgia

The Fernbank Natural History Museum is one of the top natural history museums in the southeast. Their permanent exhibits include a timeline of Georgia history, dinosaurs, shells and a hands-on discovery room for younger children. The most popular draw for my son – the dinosaur exhibit, of course.

Oxbow Meadows Environmental Park – Columbus, Georgia

Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center is a 1600 acre environmental park and part of Columbus State University. It’s used for research and classes but is open to the public as well, offering a myriad of informational programs, birdwatching and nature tours and self-guided wildlife trails.
